Jay Lester Jernigan, 77, of the 100 block of U.S. 17 North, died Monday, May 22, 1995, at his home.
Mr. Jernigan was born Oct. 26, 1917, in Bertie County. He was retired from Ford Motor Co.
Survivors include his wife, Ella P. Jernigan; a son, Al Jernigan of Windsor; a brother, Walter Jernigan of Suffolk; grandchildren, Robin Ray, Jason Jernigan, Wendy Jernigan, Sayme Carrano; and great-grandchild, Joy Ray.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at their home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roanoke-Chowan Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, N.C. 27910. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
