Peggy C. Wilhide, press secretary to U.S. Sen. Charles S. Robb for the past four years, will leave the Virginian's staff next week to assume a similar role for Vice President Al Gore.
Gore's office announced the hiring of Wilhide, 36, on Monday. As press secretary, she will be in charge of the vice president's day-to-day contacts with reporters in Washington and around the country. She expects to travel with Gore extensively, she said.
A native of Tampa, Fla., Wilhide is a graduate of Auburn University. She worked for newspapers in Alabama and did public relations work for the Alabama Education Association and the National Education Association before joining Robb's staff in 1991. by CNB
