Concert goers, taking advantage of beautiful weekend weather, staked
out positions early to get a stage-side seat for the Embers.
Joanne Nichols of Virginia Beach quickly got into the Beach music
mood, dancing and clapping to the Embers concert on Sunday.
Balmy skies, bright sun and beach music attracted thousands to the
Oceanfront over the weekend for the Beach Music Festival. Resort
businesses made a special effort to attract locals. Beach residents
and other music lovers responded in droves to line the Boardwalk,
lean over hotel balconies and anchor offshore in boats to swing and
sway to the sounds of General Johnson and the Chairmen of the Board,
Bill Pickney and the Original Drifters, Maurice Williams and The
Zodiacs, Archie Bell and the Drells, The Embers and the Supremes.
Henry Richardson, president of the Virginia Beach Hotel and Motel
Association, said he would like to see more more music weekends.
