GEORGE W. MANNING SR.

George W. Manning Sr., of the 3300 block of Lens Ave., a retired engineer, died May 22, 1995, in his residence.

Mr. Manning was born in Churchland, Va., and was the widower of Ruth Manning. He was retired from Norfolk Tallow Co. and was a member and Deacon of Way of The Cross COGIC.

Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn J. Ledbetter, Burnett M. Newton and Delois M. Jones; four sons, George W. Manning Jr., Russell B. Jones, Melvin D. Jones and Vernon M. Jones; 27 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Way of The Cross COGIC by the Rev. Lewis Hines. Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Lung Cancer Society.
