Four antiques shops housed in the same building in the 2600 block of Granby St. were damaged by a fire Tuesday night.
Chief R.M. Dunbar of the Norfolk Fire Department said the blaze started in the back of the Decades Art and Antiques shop at 2606 Granby St.
Dunbar said the fire was probably caused by an electrical problem. An investigation is continuing.
Dunbar said that although the flames were confined to the Decades section of the building, there was heat and smoke damage in the other three shops and on the vacant second floor. The other stores are Carriage House Antiques, Aaron's Attic and Boobala's.
The building originally housed a car dealership, then Atlantic Furniture before housing antiques shops.
The fire, reported at about 6:30 p.m., took about 30 minutes to put out, Dunbar said.
The chief had no damage estimate Tuesday.
