Janice M. Cartwright, 51, of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, died May 22, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Cartwright was born in Muskegon, Mich., and was a magistrate for the Commonwealth of Virginia. She was a member of F.O.P. Sewells Point (NU)28 and a member of The Magistrate's Association. Mrs. Cartwright was the first woman criminal magistrate of Norfolk.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tami M. and Patrick ``Ricky'' Araojo of Virginia Beach; a son, Thomas M. Cartwright of Virginia Beach; and two brothers, Gerald C. Weaver of Virginia Beach and Dan Rop of Ocala, Fla. She is also survived by ``Mom and Pop'' Forbes of Muskegon, Mich., and her extended family throughout the area.
She will always be the wind beneath our wings.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Clyde H. Johnson. Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes.
