Verena Elizabeth Welch, 83, of the 2500 block of Kennon Ave., a retired office clerk, died May 23, 1995, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Welch was born in Jackson County, Ill., and was a Baptist. She was retired from Simpson Transfer Co. She was past matron of Westminster Chapter (NU)99, Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of Women of the Moose (NU)157.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard C. Welch; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Margaret Welch of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Grace Davis of Ava, Ill., and Blanche Casalino of Glendale, Calif.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
