CLARENCE A. CLEMONS SR.

Clarence Anicholas ``Nick'' Clemons Sr., 84, of 2208 Lloyd Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 21, 1995. A native of Norfolk County, now Chesapeake, Virginia, he was the owner and operator of ``The Clemons' Seafood Market'' on Liberty Street in Berkley during the '40s & '50s. A Retired Longshoreman, he also retired from the Chesapeake School system.

He was a long-time member and Deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and a charter member and Deacon of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served faithfully and diligently until his illness. He was also a Lifetime member of the NAACP.

Born April 29, 1911, in Norfolk County, he was the eldest child of the late William and Mariah Clemons. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Reid Clemons, one daughter: Geraldine R. Daniels of Monroe Township, New Jersey, three sons: Clarence E. Eaton of Chesapeake, Clarence A. Clemons, Jr. of Mill Valley, California, and William Melvon Clemons Sr. of Virginia Beach, three sisters: Minnie H. Blount of Virginia Beach, Malinda Sparrow of Norfolk, and Altonelle Olds of Chesapeake; 12 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

An informal wake service will be held on Friday, May 26, 1995, between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home on Liberty Street. Funeral Services will be held at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia, on Saturday May 27, 1995 at 12 noon, by his Pastor, Rev. Dr. Donald F. Taylor. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Virginia Beach.
