It'll be an all-Beach affair in Friday's 5:30 p.m. final of the Eastern Region girls soccer tournament at Salem High School.
Kempsville, a 3-1 winner over Tabb, will face Cox, which cruised over Western Branch, 4-0, in Wednesday's semifinals.
As region finalists, both teams earned berths in the state quarterfinals, which begin Tuesday.
In Kempsville's victory, the Chiefs (13-5-1) opened the scoring with 5:03 remaining in the first half after Monica Frey's hard shot deflected off Erin Brye's hand in the box to set up Lauren Rafal's penalty shot.
Rafal got the best of Tiger keeper Heather Ghebler with a hard shot to the right corner of the box.
Kempsville, which outshot Tabb, 17-12, netted another at 16:54 of the second half when Erin Duckett sent a high floater over Ghebler's head.
But Jennifer Baker tapped in a rebound to put the Tigers (13-1) within a goal with 2:07 left.
Kempsville's Allison Harper foiled Tabb's comeback hopes with a last-minute goal. ``They were building for a possible comeback,'' Harper said. ``That goal stopped it.''
The Falcons (15-2-2) got two goals and an assist from Kirsty Hale and outshot the Bruins, 45-4.
``The girls had fun,'' Cox coach Terri Sawyer said. ``They were relaxed, passed well and worked together.''
Western Branch finished the season at 14-3-1. by CNB
