A REPREHENSIBLE EXAMPLE

I am appalled at Governor Allen's failure to remove his conservation director H. Kirby Burch from office, after his inhumane slaughtering of two wild pigs at False Cape State Park! This governmental official demonstrated total arrogance and an incomprehensible lack of feeling for the wildlife which he was sworn to protect.

My husband and I were selected for and just completed an extensive trip through Uganda, Africa, with the noted author, filmmaker and conservationist, John Hemingway.

Uganda's wildlife had been decimated by Idi Amin and other government officials usurping their positions of trust. How sad it was to see this large and beautiful country virtually devoid of wild animals. Without proper vigilence the same can happen here.

Mr. Burch should be required to work at organizations such as the SPCA, so that he might learn to appreciate all creatures great and small.

Virginians shold be frightened by the represensiible example that Mr. Burch sets for the youth of our state.
