DEMOCRACY AND CITIZENSHIP CREATING NEW CONVERSATIONS

Virginia Beach occupies a unique place in the commonwealth because of its Oceanfront, which historically has been the summertime playground for millions of Virginians and visitors.

Competition within the tourism industry has grown and is getting more intense. The city must compete with an increasing number of vacation destinations along the Eastern Seaboard. It is searching for ways to ensure that the people who love Virginia Beach keep coming back.

As you think about this and talk it over with friends and colleagues, here are some questions to consider:

When you think about the resort, what do you think of?

How does tourism affect you as a city resident?

How large a priority should the city put on tourism?

What is the role of city government in tourism development?

What would make the resort more attractive to residents and visitors alike?

In addition to whatever conversations you might have, we'd like to hear your thoughts as well.
