Louis Rawls Pearce Sr., 65, of the 400 block of Carolina Drive, a retired salesman, died May 24, 1995, in McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond, Va.
Mr. Pearce was born in Hertford County, N.C., and was retired from Lance Inc. He was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of American George Lodge (NU)17 and Roanoke Chowan Shrine Club, was a Yorkright Mason in Elizabeth City and a member of Sudan Shrine Temple in New Bern.
Survivors include his wife, Nita Kirkland Pearce; a daughter, Beverly Joan Hawley of Murfreesboro; three sons, Louis Rawls Pearce Jr. and Patrick Graham Pearce, both of Murfreesboro, and Richard Thomas Pearce of Chesapeake, Va.; three brothers, Calvin C. Pearce of Murfreesboro, John T. Pearce of Sebastian, Fla. and Robert E. Pearce of Franklin, Va.; and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Meherrin Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, by the Rev. Rowland Pruette, the Rev. Wint Hale and the Rev. Billy Sellers. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
