HOLIDAY CLOSINGS IN THE ALBEMARLE AREA

Here is a list of closings or altered schedules for Memorial Day

weekend in the Albemarle.

Banks: Closed Monday, but most automatic teller machines will be

open where available.

State and federal offices: Closed Monday.

U.S. Postal Service: No mail delivery on Monday, and post office

window service will be closed. Some branch lobbies will be open for

post office box access and postage stamp vending machines.

Division of Motor Vehicles: Like all state agencies, the DMV and

its driver's license division will be closed on Monday.

Inter-County Public Transportation: Commuter buses will make runs

for RiverSpree visitors in Elizabeth City from 9:30 a.m. to closing

on Saturday and noon to closing on Sunday. There will be no service

on Monday.

Libraries: All county libraries will be closed Monday.

The Virginian-Pilot: News and advertising departments will be

closed Monday. The circulation department will be open until 10

a.m.

National parks: The Cape Hatteras National Seashore Visitors

Center in Buxton, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site in Manteo and

Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills will be open.

North Carolina Aquarium: Open on Monday.

Museum of the Albemarle: Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 2

to 5 p.m. Sunday. Closed Monday.

Outer Banks History Center: Closed Saturday through Monday.

Ferry service: State ferries, including those traveling to and

from Knotts Island and Ocracoke Island, will run as usual.

Dare County and municipalities: Offices closed throughout Dare

County and the towns of Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil

Hills, Nags Head and Manteo. Trash pickup will run as usual.

Recycling centers will be open on Monday.

Currituck County: County offices closed on Monday. Recycling

centers open all weekend. Senior Citizens Center closed on Monday.

Camden County: County offices closed on Monday. Convenience sites

for trash and recyclables will be open through Monday. Senior

Citizens Center will be closed.

Pasquotank County/Elizabeth City: County and city offices closed

on Monday. Curbside trash pickup will run as usual on Monday.

Recycling centers will be open all weekend.

Perquimans/Hertford: County and town offices closed on Monday.

Curbside garbage will be picked up as usual throughout Hertford.

Recycling center will be open all weekend.

Senior Citizen Center: Closed Monday.

Chowan County/Edenton: Offices in both county and town closed

Monday. Garbage normally picked up on Monday will be collected

Tuesday this week. Recycling centers will remain open on the

holiday.

Stores: Most grocery and department stores will be open, but some

for fewer hours. The Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Elizabeth City will be

closed Monday. Small shops and restaurants may be closed Monday.
