Frank J. Farello Jr., CEC, AAC, DODG, CFE, age 66, of the 2700 block of Heutte Drive, a retired self-employed chef, died May 25, 1995, in his home.
A native of Bari, Italy, he was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was the former owner of Casa Farello and was a member of ACF Honor Society of American Academy of Chefs; ACF National Chair Senior Chefs Committee; International Food Service Association; co-chairman of St. Jude's Gourmet Gala; director of C-Cap Program; and board member of the Tidewater Chefs Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Carreen Huffman of Gaithersburg, Md. and Lydia Peterson of New York; a son, Frank J. Farello of Marathon, Fla.; four sisters, Dorothy Grillo, Marie Battaglia, Josephine Farella and Antonnie Farella, all of Howard Beach, N.Y.; two brothers, Paul Farella of Marathon, Fla. and Sam Farella of Flushing, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Larin Huffman, Carl Huffman, Lisa Meoni, John Meoni and Angela Farello; and longtime companion, Marty Watkins of Norfolk.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Joe Metzger. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, on Sunday and Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
