Marvin Eugene Bratten Sr., of the 8800 block of London St., who was born on Feb. 6, 1928, died Monday, May 29, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Bratten was a native of East Lake, N.C., and was a retired supervisor in the construction industry. He was a member of Missionary Holiness Church in Chesapeake, Va., and was a former board member of the church. Mr. Bratten was the husband of Marie Hewitt Bratten of the home.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bratten is survived by one daughter, Deborah Benton of Norfolk, Va.; one son, Marvin Eugene Bratten Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Nita Smith of Norfolk and Joyce Simmons of Columbia, N.C.; two brothers, Larry Ambrose of Manns Harbor, N.C., and Stanley Whaley of Ayden, N.C.; four grandchildren, Bunnie Burkett, Jeremy Bratten, Shawna Benton and Jean Borin; and a special nephew, Charles Smith Jr.
A chapel service will be conducted Thursday, June 1, 1995, at 2 p.m. in the Twiford Colonial Chapel, Manteo, N.C., by the Rev. Asa Lowe. Burial will follow in the East Lake United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and other times at the residence in Norfolk. Also, at Twiford Colonial Chapel, Manteo, Wednesday, May 31, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and at other times at the home of Larry Ambrose, Manns Harbor, N.C. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge.
