Leslie Herbert Arrant, 73, of the 5500 block of Carolanne Terrace, a retired chief engineer, died May 27, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Arrant was born in Andrews, N.C., and was the widower of Willie Kiley Arrant. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1960 after 30 years and also had retired from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the Virginia Beach School System. He was a member of VFW Post (NU)4809 and American Legion (NU)288.
Survivors include a daughter, L. Victoria Massetti of Norfolk; two sons, Jack W. Arrant and Eugene H. Arrant, both of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Wilma A. Pulley of Yuba City, Calif., and Rose Ellen A. Calahan of Dalton, Ga.; five brothers, Austin Arrant of Magadore, Ohio, Arvel Arrant of Dalton, Wallace Arrant of Madera, Calif., Louie Arrant and Robert Arrant, both of Beaumont, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Tonya Douglas of Norfolk.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hampton National Cemetery by Chaplain Vernon Martell. Friends may join the family at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today for visitation. The family will be at the home of the son, Jack, 4711 Woodsedge Road, Virginia Beach. Memorial donations may be made to VFW Post (NU)4809, 5728 Bartee St., Norfolk, Va. 23502.
