John C. Lyons, 72, of the 1400 block of Sir Kay Drive, a retired security guard, died May 25, 1995, in his home.
Mr. Lyons was born in Kelly, N.C., and was retired from Pinkerton Company. He was the widower of Vena E. Lyons He was also a U.S. Navy veteran, having retired after 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan S. Jones of Aurora, Colo.; three sons, Oliver C. Lyons of New Orleans, La., Pierre D. Lyons and Ivan I. Lyons, both of Chesapeake; two brothers, the Rev. Aldon Lyons of Muncie, Ind. and James Lyons of New Orleans; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one nephew; two nieces; cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Corprew Funeral Home by the Rev. Herman Williams. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, with military honors. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. today in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
