The Rev. William Donald ``Pee Jay'' Petty-John Jr., 68, of the 3700 block of Pamlico Circle, died May 27, 1995.
He was born in Philadelphia and retired from the U.S. Army 37 years ago with eight years of service. He was a member of Holy Cross Spiritual Temple in Baltimore and the Church Choir and was president of the Holy Cross Spiritual Temple Convention.
Survivors include a daughter, Rev. Donzella P. Berry; a son, William Donald Petty-John of Baltimore; a son-in-law, Wendell S. Berry of Norfolk; a sister, Geneva Slater of Cape May, N.J.; two brothers, Roland Petty-John of Pleasantville, N.J., and Lenny Petty-John of McConnellsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Ashley Erin Petty, Wendell S. Berry II and Tristan T. Berry. Rev. Petty-John is also survived by a host of brothers and sisters in Christ associated with the Holy Cross Spiritual Temple, and many nieces, nephews and other friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at noon Friday in Mount Olive Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. John R. Davis Sr. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family of Rev. Petty-John sincerely thanks all of the staff and personnel of the Hampton V.A. Center for the outstanding care provided during his illness.
