George W. Woods Sr., 73, of the 2500 block of Ash St., died May 28, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mr. Woods was born in Tallahotchie County, Miss. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 46 years of service. He was a member of New First Baptist Church Taylorsville in Portsmouth and the Male Usher Board.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa E. Woods; two daughters, Teresa C. Woods of Appomattox, Va. and Deborah L. Woods of Washington, D.C.; a son, George W. Woods Jr. of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Christine Ott and Learline Stafford, both of Chicago; a brother, Johnny Woods of Chicago. He was predeceased by his mother, Wiloma Woods and father, Thomas Woods.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in New First Baptist Church Taylorsville, Portsmouth, by Dr. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing will be today from noon to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 2505 Ash St. at 10:15 a.m. Thursday for the processional to the chruch. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
