Daniel Ray Leary Jr., 80, died Tuesday, May 30, 1995, in an Elizabeth City hospital.
Mr. Leary was a native of Duck, N.C. He resided in Salvo, N.C. for many years and owned and operated the Salvo Exxon and Marina. He was a member of the Elizabeth City Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Coinjock American Legion Post 288, and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was the son of the late Daniel Ray Leary Sr. and Martha Beals Leary.
Mr. Leary is survived by his wife, Ann Bartlett Leary of the home; one daughter, Martha Weigel of Fredericksburg, Va.; one son, Curtis Ray Leary and wife, Sybil of Cary, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Deane Brothers and husband, Larry of Poplar Branch, N.C.; one stepson, Howard Evans and wife, Conni of Mechanicsville, Va.; four half-brothers, Milton, Ralph and Paul Leary, all of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Seigler Leary of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Outer Banks Worship Center, Nags Head, N.C., on Friday, June 2, at 2 p.m., by Dr. James Slade and Rev. John Carlock. Burial will follow in Austin Cemetery in Kitty Hawk, N.C. The family will receive friends at Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge of arrangements.
