Johnnie Nelson Strater, 62, of the 200 block of E. Evans St., died May 30, 1995, at his residence.
Mr. Strater was born in Selma, N.C. He retired from the City of Norfolk as a master electrician. He was a lifelong member of the IBEW, Local 80. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael Nelson Strater. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Staley Strater; three daughters, Deborah S. Beatty, Patricia S. Ramsey and her husband, John Thomas Jr., Victoria S. Strater and her husband, William G. Bachsmith; six grandchildren, Lauren M. Beatty, Christopher N. Boone, Joseph V. Boone, Roger V. Boone Jr., John T. Ramsey III, Sarah A. Ramsey, all of Norfolk; his mother, Ida B. Miller of Selma, N.C.; and a host of relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Pastor Lamar Sentell. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
