Ruby Lassiter Grant, 89, was called home by her heavenly Father on June 1, 1995, as she rested comfortably in Maryview Hospital.
Mrs. Grant was a native of Ahoskie, N.C., and a 49-year member of Alexander Baptist Church. Mrs. Grant was the widow of the late Foy M. Lassiter Sr. and the late Harold P. Grant of Chesapeake.
She is survived by two daughters, Delores Hildebrandt of Concord, Mich., and Elvie Lou Case of Shiocton, Wis.; two sons, Foy M. Lassiter of Portsmouth and Alvin D. Lassiter of Vienna, Va.; and one stepson, George Grant of Freehold, N.J. Mrs. Grant is also survived by eight grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, at 1 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Alan Moor with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the residence.
