Melvin U. Lewis Jr., 69, died Wednesday, May 31, 1995, at an Outer Banks medical facility.
Mr. Lewis was born in Norfolk, Va., owned and operated Lewis Roofing Co., and served in the U.S. Navy for 13 years. He attended First Assembly of God in Manteo. Mr. Lewis was the son of the late Melvin U. Lewis Sr. and the late Mary Emma Lewis and was the husband of the late Nettie Pearl Ballance Lewis.
He is survived by one daughter, Wanda L. Bobbitt of Manteo; one sister, Sarah L. Perry of Newport, N.C.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Assembly of God in Manteo, with the Rev. Ron Denham officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, at 3 p.m. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Twiford's Colony Chapel.
