CHARLES F. SIMPSON

Charles Francis Simpson, age 76, of the 9300 block of Mason Creek Road, died June 1, 1995.

Mr. Simpson was born in Erlanger, Kentucky. He retired from civil service and from the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, chairman of the administrative committee of the church, chairman of the Christian Formation Committee and was eucharistic minister at Christ the King. He was past president of Merrimack Park Civic League; Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)60; and past recipient Arbitrator of the Year by the council of the Better Business Bureau.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marcella L. Simpson of Norfolk; two daughters, Darlene S. and her husband, Lloyd K. Bishop, and Marcia and her husband, Wayne Purkiss, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Rosella Sketch and Hilda Arnette, and a brother, James Herbert Simpson, all of Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Gene Bishop, Carrie Purkiss and Craig Purkiss of Norfolk.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 1995, at Christ the King Catholic Church by Father Joseph P. Lehman. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. Arrangements by Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Christ the King Catholic Church. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
