Mildred Marie Brown, 70, of the 3500 block of N. Ingleside Drive, died June 2, 1995, in a local hospital.
She retired six years ago as a factory employee with Mitchell and Smith after 20 years of service. She was born in Columbia, N.C., and was member of Queen Street Baptist Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include one son, Vernon C. Brown, and wife, Barbara B. Brown of Chesapeake; five sisters, Eva B. Basnight, Bessie B. Mizell and Lucy B. Barrow, all of Columbia, N.C., Iva D. Hunter of Chesapeake and Dr. Christine R. Brown of Richmond; three brothers, Charlie W. Brown of Norfolk, Dr. George W. Brown Jr. of Virginia Beach, Robert L. Brown of Newark, N.J.; two grandchildren, Vernon C. Brown II and Tanika R. Brown of Chesapeake; two very devoted cousins, Tressie B. Basnight of Norfolk and Lenora B. Smith of Chesapeake and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, George W. Brown Sr. and Gussie Brown.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 8, at 1 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Columbia, N.C. (Gum Neck), the Rev. Llewellyn Billups Jr. presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the home of her son, Vernon Brown, 2116 Cherry Hill Lane, Chesapeake, Va. 23325, 420-1440.
