Dyer Jones, 84, of the 900 block of London Blvd., died Monday, June 5, 1995, in a Hampton hospital.
Mr. Jones, a native of Ivanhoe, Va., was the widower of Margaret May Jones. He was retired from the Merchant Marine as a seaman and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Hollis of Portsmouth and Imojean Ingles of Monona, Iowa; a sister, Gladys Jones Cornett of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Eldrige Jones of Pennsville, N.J., and Ellis Jones of Speedwell, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Wiseman.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Gene Primm. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and will also be at 227 Beazley Drive, Portsmouth.
