James Vaughan Sr., 88, of Maycox Ave., died June 4, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Vaughan was born in Norfolk and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was retired from civil service as a construction inspector for the U.S. Coast Guard. He served with the Cavalry in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Elizabeth Vaughan; a daughter and her husband, Jacquelyn V. and Jerome Czypinski of Norfolk; a son and his wife, James D. Jr. and Evelyn Vaughan of Norfolk; two sisters, Lula Mae Ehrenworth and Everlyn Boling, both of Norfolk; a brother, Joseph Raymond Vaughan of Norfolk; two grandchildren, Marilyn Davis of Norfolk, Rebecca and her husband, John Ernest of Dover, N.H.; a great-grandchild, John Davis of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Daniel H. Quiram. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
