Ida Vickery Pope, 75, of Virginia Beach, died June 6, 1995, in her residence.
Mrs. Pope was born in Lima, Peru, on Nov. 14, 1919, and educated at the Plymouth School for Girls in Plymouth, England. During World War II she worked for Grace and Company and British Intelligence, during which time she met her future husband, Walter S. Pope, who was then assigned to Peru with the FBI. After their wedding they eventually settled in Abilene, Texas, where her husband was a trial lawyer. Ida was actively involved with the Stitchery Group of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest. She completed five needlepoint kneelers for the altar and the Bishop's chair. In 1990 she moved to Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Pope is survived by a daughter, Stephanie M. Pope of Virginia Beach; a son, Walter Alan Pope of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sisters, Marie V. Dallara of San Francisco, Calif., and Grace V. Ashworth of Lima, Peru.
A Chapel service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, by the Rev. James Sell. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Batten Library Fund of Norfolk Academy, 1585 Wesleyan Drive, Norfolk, Va. 23502, or the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meander St., Abilene, Texas 79602.
