Detectives late Tuesday began hunting for a 19-year-old man they say donned a ninja-like outfit and then robbed and assaulted a self-service carwash employee.
Detectives said Antone Green of the 100 block of North Oceana Blvd. is one of two suspects involved in the Monday robbery of 30-year-old assistant manager Pedro E. Medoro.
Police secured arrest warrants for Green late Tuesday, charging him with robbery, malicious assault and using a firearm while committing a felony.
As of midnight Tuesday, Green had not been arrested.
Medoro told police two short assailants dressed in black with black masks parked a car in one of the bays, then confronted him in the Southern Pride carwash office about 12:30 p.m.
During the robbery, Medoro sustained a gash on his head. He told police he saw a gun and heard a loud bang, but police said it doesn't appear his head wound resulted from a gunshot.
The suspects then took money from the carwash office and left in a dark blue Chevrolet Cavalier or Beretta, Medoro told police.
Medoro closed and locked the office, and walked to a nearby 7-Eleven, where a clerk called police. Medoro was taken to a local hospital. His injury wasn't serious.
Sgt. Tony Zucaro said evidence left at the carwash near the intersection of Oceana Boulevard and Harper's Road led detectives to suspect Green.
Detectives said they do not yet know the identity of the second person involved in the robbery.
Police said Green is Hispanic, between 5-foot and 5-foot-3, and weighs around 110 pounds.
Police are asking anyone with information about Green to call Crime Solvers at 427-0000, or the robbery squad at 427-4101. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
