NORFOLK ACADEMY'S Angela Hucles was the leading vote-getter of the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools girls soccer selections for the fourth consecutive year.
The Bulldogs, who have compiled a 137-0-1 record against TCIS opponents, placed four players on the first team. Tournament runner-up schools Norfolk Christian, Norfolk Collegiate and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy each had two named to the first team.
Norfolk Academy, which won its 10th league title, outscored its TCIS opponents, 85-3, with Hucles netting more than half.
The junior scored 47 goals and had 23 assists. She is by far the leading scorer in school history, and perhaps in South Hampton Roads, with 152 career goals and 86 assists.
Junior midfielder Carrie Evans, who is currently sixth among Norfolk Academy's all-time leading scorers with 55 career goals and 47 assists, joined Hucles on the first team for the fourth consecutive year. Evans was fifth in the TCIS scoring this season with 17 goals and 11 assists.
Bulldog seniors Tina Marquez and Molly Inman, who moved up from last year's honorable mention recipients, join Hucles and Evans on the first team.
Norfolk Christian's Martha Duffey, a two-time All-TCIS pick, and sophomore keeper Kristin Brown led the Ambassadors to a 14-3-3 season and their second championship appearance.
Duffey had 17 goals and eight assists, and Brown anchored the best defense in the school's history, allowing only 18 goals all season for a .81 goals against average. Brown, who was an honorable mention sweeper last season, posted 10 shutouts for the year and notched 20 saves or more on four occasions.
Also named to the first team were Norfolk Collegiate's Brooke Cooper, who was the league's fourth-best scorer with 19 goals and eight assists, and Alicia Chandler with 18 goals and six assists; Nansemond-Suffolk's Jill Van Guilder and Betsy Bagnell; Peninsula Catholic's Gretchen Draudt, the TCIS' third leading scorer with 19 goals and nine assists; Hampton Roads Academy's Ashley Nevins; Walsingham's Beth Morris, a 20 goal scorer with four assists and Cape Henry's Linda Temoche, who had three goals and 26 assists.
Temoche helped the Dolphins compile their best record ever - a 10-10 campaign after last year's 0-11 effort.
Earning honorable mention were Norfolk Academy's Kayla Becker and Kristie Magee; Norfolk Collegiate's Katie Kiefner, Christine Aulicino and Chelsea Dailey; Cape Henry's Tova Cohn, the TCIS' second-leading scorer with 30 goals and four assists, and Sara Anton; and Catholic's Georgia Germao, Ashley Kiriluk and Samantha Newton.
