THE RIGHT TO DISSENT

NATO increased ethnic identity and hate in Yugoslavia by encouraging the breakaway of Bosnia and Croatia. Now that NATO incompetence has largely created a ghastly civil war based on archaic ethnic and religious hatreds, should we take one side over another and send thousands of Americans to their deaths? No!

The strength of our country is based on checks and balances. We, the citizens, have a duty to criticize our government and keep it in check. We believe that we can stop criminals, even those in our government, by lawful means. To abandon that is to abandon our heritage. Our government officials have been criminal at times - history teaches that. We cannot accept any major attempt to silence criticism. Let us not forget that the Nazis bombed their own federal building to justify their repression and stop criticism.
