Denva Layton White Jr., 75, of the 8200 block of Bison Ave., a retired engineer, died June 7, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mr. White was a native of Suffolk and was retired from Joseph S. Floyd Corp. He was a member of Talbot Park Baptist Church, superintendent of Sunday School, Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Virginia Society of Professional Engineers; Norfolk Yacht and Country Club; and Duck Woods Country Club in Kitty Hawk, N.C. Mr. White was a retired major in the Army Reserve after 20 years of service and was a veteran of World War II. He was the former president of the Denel Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie C. White; two daughters, Nelda W. Cardoza of Virginia Beach and Glenda E. White of Williamsburg, Va.; three sons, Denva L. White III, Donald L. White and David C. White, all of Norfolk; and seven grandchildren, Layton, Harrison, Chad, Christie, Elizabeth, Travis and Scott.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Talbot Park Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. Harry T. Dixon Jr. and the Rev. Keith Martin. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Talbot Park Baptist Church.
