Flora Ward Hurdle, 96, formerly of Belvidere, died Thursday, June 8, 1995, in Winslow Memorial Home.
A native of Chowan County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Timothy Ward and Mary Jane Copeland Ward and the widow of Jerome West Hurdle. She was an Elder at Piney Woods Friends Meeting and a charter member of Belvidere Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include four daughters, Alice H. Hofler of Hobbsville, Florine S. Weeks of Elizabeth City, Carolyn Saunders of Newport News and Delma Ann Dale of Hertford; a son, D.T. Hurdle of Belvidere; two brothers, Foy Ward and Marcel Ward, both of Tyner; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Swindell Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Wood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and at other times at the home of Florine Weeks, 1382 Lynch's Corner Road, Elizabeth City.
