GREENSHEET CHANGES

You'll find some changes this week in Television Week: a single grid for the weekday daytime listings, a new home for Sports on TV and a crisper walk through the movie offerings.

Many of you have asked for a quicker way to digest the daytime dial. In part because of that, we've replaced the rolling list of programs with an at-a-glance grid that you'll find on Pages 12 and 13.

This weeklong daytime grid is similar to our daily prime-time format except that it accommodates movie lineups that change daily, and the print is a bit smaller so we can include all the information.

Combining the weekday lineups into a single grid lets you see more readily what is on at any time. The format also helps us save some newsprint costs, which are increasing 40 percent this year, and an additional 30 percent next year. We are trying to find ways to better serve our readers without passing on all the costs in price increases.

The Saturday and Sunday daytime listings will remain as they are, as will the prime-time and late-night listings.

Starting this week, you'll also find Sports on TV listings in a convenient place - on the inside back cover. And you'll see that we've sharpened our movie capsules and moved them to the back of the section.

We want to continue fine-tuning Television Week. If you have questions or suggestions, please call our special TV Week line at 640-5555, category 3000, and leave us a message. We'll be listening. by CNB
