JOHN K. CARPENTER JR.

John Kendall Carpenter Jr., 70, died Thursday, June 15, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mr. Carpenter was born in Birdsnest, Va., son of the late John Kendall and Edyth Schwab Carpenter. He was the owner and operator of John's Service Center. He was a member of Cheriton Baptist Church, American Legion Post 56 and The Knights of Pythians. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Shrieves Carpenter; two sons, John K. Carpenter III and Roland L. Carpenter, both of Cheriton; and two sisters, Naomi C. Lingo of Cape Charles and Pauline C. Iverson of Williamsburg.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Cape Charles Cemetery by the Rev. Rick Kesterson and the Rev. Robert E.L. Trail. Flowers accepted, or memorials may be made to Cape Charles Rescue Service, Cape Charles, Va. 23310. Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home, Cape Charles, is handling arrangements.
