Capt. David B. Pascoe relieved Capt. Donald S. Jensen Friday as commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard National Strike Force Coordination Center.
The change of command took place in a 10 a.m. ceremony at the center on U.S. Route 17 North.
Jensen is departing from active duty after 30 years. He reported in July 1991 to the newly established coordination center as its first commanding officer.
Jensen, a 1965 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the holder of post-graduate degrees in naval architecture/marine engineering and mechanical engineering, administered the three Coast Guard oil and hazardous chemical pollution strike teams.
The strike force coordination center also provides response training to government and industry personnel nationwide to enhance pollution-response preparedness. Other initiatives at the center include the development of a database on national and international spill-response sources.
Pascoe comes to the center after serving since 1992 as commanding officer/captain of the marine safety office in Portland, Maine.
Pascoe joined the Coast Guard in 1971 after graduating from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a degree in marine and electrical engineering and an unlimited assistant engineer's license. by CNB
