I just completed fifth grade at Great Bridge Intermediate School, where I was honored to serve as Student Council Association president this year. That made it possible for me to work with so many wonderful teachers in the school and Dr. Rebecca W. Adams, our principal.
I still remember Mrs. Sondra Moseley's class when I first started third grade at Great Bridge Intermediate and her loving ways that helped me not to be afraid of a new school. I knew she was always there for me.
Now that I am leaving fifth grade, I realize that I have just spent one of the greatest years any student could have. My teacher, Mrs. Dru Ford, has made learning so much fun. She understands how to make every student do their very best. Most of all, she made our class feel like the most important people in the world! I really can't imagine going to school each morning next year and not seeing Mrs. Ford's smiling face. I'll always love her.
Finally, I just want to thank Dr. Adams for being such a great principal and for making Great Bridge Intermediate a really great school. Patriotic Day and the readings at our flag pole are just some of the ways she worked to make our school different from all of the others.
I want to thank Great Bridge Intermediate for giving me and all of my fifth grade friends so much.
We'll miss you!

Parker Road Support for school
The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake Division, has done an excellent job promoting business partnerships with the schools. One such successful partnership is between Home Quarters Warehouse and B.M. Williams Primary School. HQ is always willing to provide any needed items, from plants to awards frames, as well as joining in some of the school's activities.
Wanda Howard from HQ has made this possible, and we at B.M. Williams School are proud to be working with this business. The more businesses are involved with helping our schools, the better our schools will be.

White Cedar Drive Helpful firemen
Please print this note of thanks to the three gentlemen who took the time to help us in our time of need.
At about 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, we were returning from Portsmouth to Elizabeth City, N.C., when we became stranded with a flat tire. We were absolutely helpless and had begun to wonder how we would get home.
We walked to the nearby Chesapeake Fire Station No. 8 and asked for help. Dave Madewell, city fireman, came to our aid, but couldn't get the lugs free. The wrench just wouldn't fit.
Within 20 minutes, two other gentlemen, Jimmy Seymore and Victor Pope, approached with help. Victor had a wrench that fit, and Jimmy did the labor. Without all three men involved in the teamwork, we would never have been able to get back on the road at that time of night safely. It gave us all the faith that we sometimes lack that nice people still exist. Thanks again, Victor, Jimmy and especially Dave for letting us know that firemen do tires as quickly as fires.
