The recent gun-stashed-in-the-typewriter incident at the Greensville maximum security prison and the Department of Correction's response suggesting a hoax was no surprise to me after dealing with the department over the past few months.
It is typical of what we experienced fighting the department's power and heavy-handed prison-citing procedures which are irrelevant to any factors involved after Virginia proposed placing a prison in Northampton Country on the Eastern Shore.
That Ron Angelone, head of the Department of Corrections, could investigate an injustice in his own department by his own men and then arrogantly announce no wrongdoing and ``case closed'' is scary! This man and his department are loose cannons and should be guarded more closely, as should the inmates.
