John W. Cromwell, 69, died June 16, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Cromwell was born in Norfolk. He was the widower of Mary Lee Cromwell. He was a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and the University of Virginia where he was a member of St. Anthony's Fraternity. Mr. Cromwell was in business with his father, Starr W. Cromwell and retired from their business of Starr W. Cromwell Insurance Company. He was an active sportsman, and enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of the former Dudley's Island Gun Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary C. Harrison of Alpharetta, Ga.; a son, John W. Cromwell of Virginia Beach; his mother, Charlotte Winslow Cromwell of Virginia Beach; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 1995, in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. The family will be receiving friends at his residence following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, will be handling the arrangements.
