MACK DOUGHTIE

Mack Doughtie, 73, of the 200 block of Idlewood Ave., a retired mechanic, died June 17, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Doughtie was born in Portsmouth. He had retired from Western Auto after 20 years. He presently worked at Portsmouth Exxon. He was a member of Brantley's Grove Baptist Church, Ahoskie, N.C. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 993 and was a life member of D.A.V., Portsmouth Chapter. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the recipient of a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Smith Doughtie of Portsmouth; two sisters, Jessie Mae Pieroni of Portsmouth and Rosa Lee Minga of Rescue, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Brinkley Family Cemetery, Ahoskie, by the Rev. James C. Ward. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. and at other times at 24 Fiske Avenue, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the D.A.V. or to the American Heart Association.
