Ernest Newton Wilson Sr., 74, of Woods Trail, died June 20, 1995.
Mr. Wilson was a lifelong resident of Southampton County. He was retired after 20 years of service with the U.S. Navy and was also a retired welding instructor after 14 years for the Southampton Correctional Institute. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church, president of the Men's Bible Class and a former member of the Board of Deacons. He was a member of Franklin Moose Lodge (NU)1573, a former member of Courtland Masonic Lodge, AF & AM (NU)85, and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine ``Nippy'' Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice C. Wilson; two sons, Ernest N. ``Skip'' Wilson Jr. of Franklin and Sidney E. Wilson of Courtland; one stepson, Wayne L. Carr of Zuni; two stepdaughters, Anita C. Magette and Kathy C. Bryant, both of Windsor; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Courtland Baptist Church by Dr. Gary Powell. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
