Captain Herbert William Carr, U.S. Navy (Ret.), 68, died Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 1995, at the residence of his daughter, 164 N. Coalter St.
He was born Aug. 19, 1926 at Barker, N.Y., a son of the late Douglas and Beatrice Fermoile Carr.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Carr of Roanoke, Va.; two daughters, Joanne C. Reighter of Diamond Bar, Calif. and Kathy C. Tate of Staunton; two sisters, June Burnham of New Port Richey, Fla. and Jean Luschen of Southport, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29, in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Hamrick Funeral Home, Staunton, is in charge of arrangements. It is suggested that memorials be made to Hospice Support of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 922, Waynesboro, Va. 22980.
