Dorothy Thomas, 71, of the 4400 block of Winchester Drive, died June 17, 1995, in Long Island Jewish Hospital.
Mrs Thomas, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., was the daughter of the late Wilmore and Mable Lancaster Bright and the widow of Wilson Thomas. She was retired as a nurse in Brooklyn and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Suffolk.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Gaskins of New York City; her mother-in-law, Hattie Winn of Chesapeake; two stepdaughters; a sister, Margaret Foster of Portsmouth; two brothers-in-law, Edward Foster of Portsmouth and Milton Thomas of Bronx, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Jean Brewington of Honolulu; a special nephew, Barry Monk of New York City; five aunts; seven grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Macedonia Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va., by the Rev. Bernard Thomas. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at 4424 Winchester Drive, Portsmouth. Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, is handling arrangements.
