Regarding ``Veterans preferred'' (editorial, June 20): The veteran-reference program is not an affirmative-action scheme for white men.
Any veteran with an honorable discharge qualifies. Emphasis on any. Red, yellow, black, white, male, female, gay, straight, Baptist, Catholic, atheist, fat, thin, tall, short, with arms and legs or without - ANY VETERAN!
It was a gift from American to all Americans who served in a wartime military. To link it to racism and sexism is contemptible, mean-spirited and typical of the arrogant media.
