Thomas V. Cheatham, 79, of the 2700 block of Beachmont Ave., a retired letter carrier, died June 21, 1995, in Norfolk Health Care Center.
Mr. Cheatham was born in Norfolk and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years. He was the widower of Thelma Cheatham and was a member of Unity Lutheran Church. He was former president and treasurer of the Church Council; member of Chesterfield Social Club; and active member of his graduating class of 1936, Booker T. Washington High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Southall and Judy Davis, both of Norfolk; two grandchildren, Du Shaun Davis of Mount Laurel, N.J., and Kristin Davis of Norfolk; a son-in-law, William Davis Jr. of Norfolk; and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 6001 Granby St., Norfolk, by Pastor Arthur Meyer. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at 2733 Beachmont Ave. Family and friends will assemble at the residence for the procession to the church at noon. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
