Richard Glenn Wilkie, 84, of Grandy, died Wednesday night in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
He was a native of Rutherford County, N.C., and was a retired field engineer for the Mobile Oil Co. and Esmark Corp. Mr. Wilkie was the son of the late James B. and Zula Emma Taylor Wilkie and the widower of Evelyn Smawley Wilkie. He was a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church and a member of the Grandy Ruritan Club.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Wilkie and wife, Juanita, of Portsmouth and Richard G. Wilkie and wife, Kathy, of Chesapeake; one sister, Louise Chappell of Mountain City, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Theresa Lynn Newberry and husband, Donald of Smithfield, Va., Richard Glenn Wilkie III of Chesapeake and Roni Jean Bright and husband, Gerald of Portsmouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford's Memorial Chapel from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
