BANK ROBBED

A man walked into Crestar Bank, in the 100 block of North Main St., about 4:20 p.m. Thursday, demanded money, then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency.

The man displayed no weapon, said police spokesman Mike Simpkins. But he had his hand in his pants pocket and made motions as if he had a gun, Simpkins said.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned black man with light facial hair and weighing about 185 pounds. He was wearing dark pants, a white T-shirt with ``Blue Cross'' and ``Blue Shield'' in blue letters across the back.

He asked for a specific amount of money, which the teller gave him, police said. Anyone with information may call 925-6350.
