RACE ALWAYS MADE AN ISSUE

Regarding ``Memorial Day racism?'' (letter, June 9): I missed the Memorial Day edition of your paper, but I too would have been appalled to read that you are telling black children that no one of their race is worth remembering on that special day. Did the body bags of fallen Vietnam-era soldiers look different according to race?

It is unfortunate that people will make a race issue out of anything. Maybe one of the main reasons black children grow up embittered with society is because of having to listen to people cramming racism and other negatives down their throats all the time. Maybe turning some of that hostile racist energy into positive energy might help those children grow up with better attitudes about themselves and their society.
