``With so many laws on the books, what will another one hurt?'' The Virginia Beach City Council should have a plaque on its wall with this statement.
I don't disagree that helmets for bike riders are a good idea. But making another law is not the way to go. Junk food isn't good; should it be illegal?
As with so many areas in life, everything doesn't require another law written and implemented by those who feel the need to do so.
In a different time the English made laws and regulations to direct and take care of a society they considered in need of guidance. We remember it as the times preceding 1776.

Has anyone noticed lately the ridiculously high prices of theater concessions? I am fed up with getting ripped off on my favorite movie snack - popcorn, nachos and Coca-Cola. I've made a vow not to purchase any more concessions until such time (if ever) they go down in price, not up.
I've heard that theater owners make most of their profits on concessions and charge high prices because they have a captive audience (they won't allow you to bring in your own). If the moviegoing public would ``just say no'' to those sky-high prices of goodies, maybe the theater owners would get our message: ``We're mad, and we're not going to take it anymore.''
Shucks, you can always stay home and wait for the movie to come out on video. How would the theater owners like that?
