J. CHRIS EATON

J. Chris Eaton, U.S. Navy MMC (SS) retired, 33, of the 3800 block of Kecoughtan Rd., Hampton, died on June 24, 1995, in Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. He was a native of San Antonio, Texas, and had lived in Tidewater for 10 years.

Mr. Eaton is a graduate of Marshall High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from Old Dominion University. During his time in the service, Mr. Eaton served as a nuclear Machinist Mate Chief on submarines, assisted in the development of a submarine training facility in Norfolk, Va., and was the recipient of several awards and honors. After retiring from the service in 1993, Mr. Eaton founded and managed CEA Corp., a successful computer business in Hampton, Va.

Survivors included a devoted friend: George E. Perry (of the home); his daughter, Meghan S. Eaton of Wisconsin; his parents, Evelyn N. and Bill R. of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, James D. Eaton and his family of Hawaii; a maternal grandmother, Lesley F. Stevens of Houston, Texas; two aunts, Joyce Vannatta of Temple, Texas, and Judy Taylor of San Antonio, Texas. Other survivors included uncles, many cousins and close friends.

A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Candy Program, 3309 Granby St., Norfolk, Va. 23505.
